A person in this position reports to and works closely with the Controller.  The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transaction. The Senior Accountant is responsible for coordinating with internal, as well as external, sources of the organization, and must maintain the inventory system and other accounting needs with integrity and standardization. The Senior Accountant must have strong technical skills involving inventory reconciliation, cost analysis and month-end close, as well as solid decision-making skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment. Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by department location.
  • Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, and analyze inventory evaluation, as well as inventory roll forward.
  • Daily review of the general ledger to ensure error-free entries and proper balancing.
  • Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by location for fuel including calculating discounts.
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regard to cost analyses and profitability.
  • Manage CFN Foreign transactions, post receipts for CFN Foreign transactions to customer accounts, monthly CFN Foreign transaction adjustments, adjusting inventory monthly.
  • Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management.
  • Post and reconcile
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or related field required, CPA preferred.
  • Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills. 
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves. 
  • Strong organizational and communicational skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • 2+ years’ experience in similar retail position highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
This is a full time, 40+ hours per week position, typically Monday - Friday. Qualified applicants must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed, especially during times of high seasonal demand.
